This is an action packed series about former military men sent to find retired K9 dogs that are lost all over the United States. This particular dog Sabine is lost at a truck stop and Kurt takes on the assignment since its his former home town. Little did he know that he would reconnect with his high school sweetheart that he left behind to join the Navy and make something worthwhile out of his life. He became a Navy SEAL but thirteen years later after a water accident that almost took his life and his leg but he survived. He had to retire from the career that he loved. Laurie Ann had let him go never telling him she was pregnant with their child but she did break the news to him after running into him for the second time and he met their son unexpectedly. Kurt guessed because he resembled himself so much. She had also comp!eted medical school and had become a pediatrician which was quite an accomplishment and while raising their son Jeremy without her parental support. This where their story gets interesting as a gang approaches Laurie Ann while she was waiting for Kurt and he ends up saving her life with the help of Sabine that he had rescued. This suspenseful romance between Kurt and Laurie Ann and their son Jeremy gets a happy ending with Sabine as well. This is an amazing book in this series and I cannot wait to read the next release.
